Nike Alphafly 3

Release date confirmed by Nike: January 2024!

Chicago marathon world record

If you haven’t heard it yet (hard to believe!) but Kelvin Kiptum has set a new official marathon world record of 2h00m35sec!

Guess you can already imagine which shoes he was wearing? The Alphafly 3 indeed! Yeah Baby!

The Alphafly is considered the best marathon racing shoe on the planet for the moment!
It will also be a very expensive shoe…

But…the public still needs to wait until after the holidays to get their hands on this world record holding shoe.
Don’t go and spend all your money for holiday presents!
Make sure to keep a decent budget a side for the new Alphafly.

Then you can make proper work of those new years resolutions!

There are hardly any specifications available for the moment.

But more and more pictures are beginning to surface since the shoes were already seen at multiple events.

London Marathon
Berlin Marathon
Copenhagen Half Marathon

And now very recently in the Chicago Marathon on the feet of Kelvin Kiptum, who ran a world record and Sifan Hassan who won in the women’s category.

This has been very good publicity for Nike, Kiptum grabbing that world record in the new Alphafly’s, that’s for sure!
It even outshines the Adidas Adizero Pro EVO 1, the featherweight shoe of 500$.

Eliud Kipchoge

Upper

The upper still looks to be Nike’s AtomKnit fabric, perhaps the weaving of the fabric fibers is done a bit different to give an even better fit.
As we all know, a super shoe like this needs to fit like a glove, otherwise the performance will not be optimal.

Midsole

The ZoomX foam seems to go completely along the entire sole, instead of the clear division between the forefoot and heel that we saw in previous models. Which is something that always gave me the idea of being less stable, but that could just have been in my head.
The sole itself also looks a bit thicker than in the Alphafly 2. The Zoom Air unit is now also integrated into the sole instead of separate as before.

Overall, the Alphafly 3 appears to be more cushioned and will probably be a little bit more responsive than the Alphafly 2. It remains to be seen if the new version will further contribute to improving the running experience though!

Don’t go and out and expect that you would be able to run at the same pace as Kiptum or Kipchoge.

And… I’m for one very curious if we are going to see someone break the 2 hours mark for the marathon in 2024
