Whey Protein

Bulk whey protein

I have 2 different brands of whey protein powder for the moment that I use.
I’m not specifically limited to one brand, I just buy the one that is at a reasonable price!

Bulk Pure Whey Protein has an average of about 22g of protein per 30g serving. Also worth noting is that there is only around 1,5grams of sugar!
This product is sold by Bulk.

Bodylab Whey Protein has an average of about 20g of protein per 30g serving.
Sugar comes around 2grams!

Applied Nutrition Velocity Fuel Sprint Gel

The velocity fuel sprint gels from Applied Nutrition are a staple for me.
They are well tolerated by my stomach and have a very good flavour.

Some might say that it’s a bit too sweet, but personally I like the taste and sweetness.
The advantage of these gels is that you do not need to take them with water!

This is the caffeinated variant, they also have non-caffeinated ones, but haven’t tried them yet.

Before a race I usually take one half an hour before the start
During a race I use one or two per hour, but I switch it up with non-caffeinated gels.

Science in Sport Isotonic Energy Gel

I personally use the gels normal gels from Science in Sport since they are of good price/quality.
And usually i can find them somewhere on sale!

They are well tolerated even in races where you want to go a bit faster than usual.
The advantage of these gels is that you do not need to take them with water!

Each gel contains around 20g of carbs.
They are available in several different flavours, not all flavours are sometimes easy to find though!
You can also get a variety pack with their most popular flavours.

Science in Sport Beta Fuel Gel

The Science in sport Beta fuel gels I sometimes use on longer trail runs.
Both the normal or the nootropics versions.
They satisfy you longer thus you need to carry less gels with you!
The advantage of these gels is that you do not need to take them with water!

Do take into account that the nootropics version has 200mg of caffeine in it, so it’s not suited for people that are sensitive to high caffeine!

I try to avoid the beta fuel gels in general during fast races because when my heart rate is higher they can feel a bit heavy on the stomach, but that could just be personal experience 🤷‍♂️

One gel has 40 grams of carbs, which is double of a normal gel.
The consistency of the gel is also much thicker than usual.

Science in Sport Beta Fuel Powder

I use the Science in sport beta fuel powder one day before a big race to make sure my carb intake is on point.

I mix it with about 5-600ml of water and shake well (shake really well because it doesn’t dissolve that good!).
Even though that it doesn’t dissolves that good I still find it a good product that is not heavy on the stomach.

Cream of rice

Cream of rice is ideal to get additional carbohydrates in that are digested quickly.

It’s absolutely not heavy on the stomach, vegan, gluten and wheat free.

it’s available in 3 different flavours: Cinnamon, Chocolate and Vanilla.
I’ve got the Chocolate and Vanilla flavours!

Candarel Sugarly

Candarel Sugarly

Check your local warehouse.
Prices on the internet are crazy high!
(I pay 6,25€/250g no promo price)

As we all know, too much sugar isn’t good for us…
If you are used to consuming high amounts of sugar, your body will keep asking for it.

That’s why that for my breakfast (low sugar cereal variants) or cream or rice I mix it up with Sugarly.
I only add 5grams to sweeten up my breakfast and it’s great!

I also used it already several times in desserts for the entire family and they didn’t even noticed that it was Sugarly instead of normal sugar!

There are several other types on the market but those from Candarel are the easiest for me to find in local warehouses.
