It’s a neutral daily trainer which is best used on the road or treadmill but light gravel terrain also does not pose any issues.

The shoe performs best up to paces of 13 – 14 kilometers per hour.

In my opinion the shoe performs the best in the Easy run category, up until your longer runs.

For me It’s true to size, the upper has a bit of stretch in it to compensate for your feet to expand during your run.

At no point I had the feeling it was getting too tight.

Midsole / Outsole

The midsole and outsole are identical to the triumph 20’s.

Which is a PWRRUN+ midsole foam that gives you a more responsive feeling and reduces the impact on your body.
It’s pretty resistent to outside temperatures, so you will have a comparable run in a warm or colder climate.

The outsole is equipped with a carbon rubber to provide the necessary grip even on light gravel terrain.

It also seems to be very durable.
You do get the occasional small stone that can get stuck into the edges.

The slightly wider base at the forefoot also provides you with a good stability.
It also has a semi-rocker to help the foot roll forwards and provide you with a good toe off.

Upper

Saucony Triumph 21 upper

The upper is consisted of 2 layers.

First of all you have the outer layer, which has excellent breathability and ventilation.
It’s also not thick so perfect to use in warmer conditions.

Then you have the inner layer, which is kind of like a sock that wraps around your mid foot to your forefoot.
This keeps your feet more in place during the run without losing any comfort.

The inner layer also is very thin with additional ventilation holes.

The tongue is well padded and is attached to the inner layer.
Because it’s connected to the inner layer, the tongue does not move around. It also does not create any hot spots on top of your feet.

The laces are good quality and have a nice little stretch in them.
The length is also sufficient if you need to do a runners knob for example.

Haven’t had any issues with the laces coming loose during a run.

At the heel there is just the right amount of padding including near the ankle, but it could be that you need to play around a bit with the tightness of the laces to avoid a possible heel slip. That was my personal experience anyway.

But for reference I didn’t needed to do the runners knob!

Only thing I’m a bit concerned about is running in the rain, and when I say rain I mean being soaking wet.

I’m pretty sure that you will have some very wet feet, let’s just hope that the inner layer provides enough protection to avoid any possible friction otherwise that in combination with perhaps bad socks could cause blisters.

Durability

I have done around 140Km in the shoes and the outsole still looks perfect.

There is hardly any wear and tear visible on the shoes.

The midsole still looks to be in mint condition, just a bit dirty 😃

The only thing that I do notice is that on 1 side the Saucony logo is a bit cracked and it also looks a bit less shiny than on the other side.

I expect the shoes to last for at least 600km and probably even 800km, it will depend a bit on how the midsole will hold up.

Summary

To wrap up, the Triumph 21 is a very decent shoe which will provide you with a comfortable run even at a bit higher paces.
I also don’t expect any issues when the temperatures will get a bit colder in a couple of months.

The only thing I didn’t had the chance to test yet is in very wet conditions.
Furthermore It’s a responsive shoe that gives a good energy return.

This will also reduce the impact on your feet and legs especially on those longer runs.

The shoe costs around 190 euro, and it falls a bit in the same category as the Asics Nimbus 25.
The Nimbus 25 also costs around 200 euros, but you can already find it with a discount of 20%.

My recommendation would be to just wait until there is a sale on the Triumph to get them at a bit lower price of around 150-160 euro.
